City Officials say the new Texoma Medical Center
could mean thousands of more jobs and a few headaches as well.
The new facility will be built near U.S. Highway 75 and state road 691, just South of the Cigna building.
The state of the art facility won't be ready until January 2010, but progress is already being made. The city is teaming up with Texas Department of Transportation to install a new drainage system and water run-off.
Scott Smathers, Vice President for the Denison Development Authority, says the new facility is great for our area because it will add between 4,000 and 5,000 jobs, but drivers commuting to the Denison area will feel a difference. There will be more cars on the road!
Last year Texoma Medical Center announced Universal Health Services will be managing their new facility, which will still be called Texoma Medical Center. The current facility will then be used for something else. Chairman of the Board of Directors Jerdy Gary says they're concentrating on finalizing the plans for the new hospital.
